Welcome to Let’s Do This, a weekly newsletter with ideas and inspiration for taking intentional action. This is the monthly round-up where I review the month using gold stars and demerits. I invite you to join me!
Today is the end of the month, it’s the end of the half-year and also the end of my company’s financial year.
It is therefore the perfect time to take stock. I thought I would have more energy this evening, but I don’t so it’ll be the quick and dirty edition.
How was your June?
I’ll have to do a mid-year review next week…
This month’s gold stars
I worked out 13 times this month - 4 Spanish dance, 4 personal training sessions and 5 Zumba classes.
Dion and I are 5/6 for monthly date nights.
Our family is 6/6 for family fun things.
I walked into that section of the building where my colleague worked, and it was fine. And of course it was easier after that too.
My mammogram and scan were clear.
My iron is totally within normal range again. A miracle. A few other things are not but let’s celebrate something that has been out of whack since December 2022.
I spent THREE vouchers in June. I’m on a roll. Two of them were on a full body massage. I even have a plan to spend one more while on holiday next month.
My goals % is now on 53% for my 25 in 2025 list.
Demerits
I only read 6 books! After only 7 books in May! What on earth?! I have gotten so good at “watching my shows on Sundays” (a goal on my 25 in 2025 list) that I’m not reading like I should. My July reading goal is 8 - 10 books. I find at the 8 level, I have to stretch myself a little bit, which is good for me.
Work has been sucky: one of my team resigned, I had some super awful feedback (some fair, some not) and some other things just feel very, very hard. However, a new financial year for me means I evaluate everything - meeting frequencies, how I do everything, what I want to change… which always makes me feel better.
I have two additional medical appointments coming up in July when I was planning to be done until September because the effects of the hormone therapy are not working exactly as planned (I am, sadly, a bit of an outlier).
What I read and loved in June ——>
My favourite book was:
Same as it ever was by Claire Lombardo
I also loved The Most Fun We Ever Had by the same author so I knew I’d love this one, but it was even better than my expectations. TMFWEH did have a house as a “character” which is a micro genre I love.
However, the best thing is that ALL the books I read were winners for me and my average rating for June was a high 4.375!
Which books can you recommend to me in this genre? Also, make friends with me on Goodreads.
How was your month? And what are you looking forward to in July?
I am looking forward to a beach holiday and a fresh start in July.
I forgot how good you are at these reviews. I have never done any 🫣😀
